If I had to choose just one national park as a must-see, Zion National Park would be at the top of my list. With towering sandstone cliffs that feel skyscraper-high, dramatic canyon landscapes, and some of the most unforgettable hiking in the country, Zion truly is a hiker’s dream.
My personal favorite hike is The Narrows—an incredible trek through the Virgin River surrounded by towering slot canyon walls layered in stunning shades of red, orange, and gold. Before heading out, always check weather conditions, as flash flooding can occur.
Another bucket-list experience is Angels Landing, one of the most famous—and most challenging—hikes in the United States. The views are absolutely breathtaking, but be sure to apply for a permit in advance, as access is limited each day.
If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed, Emerald Pools Trail offers a scenic hike with waterfalls, lush greenery, and beautiful canyon views.

Helpful Tips for Visiting Zion
✔ Arrive early—parking fills quickly, especially during peak season. The visitor center opens at 8:00 AM, but arriving a little earlier is highly recommended.
✔ Pack more water and snacks than you think you’ll need—desert hiking can be deceptively demanding.
✔ Reserve lodging, permits, and activities well in advance, as Zion is one of America’s most popular national parks.
✔ Wear proper hiking shoes and always check trail and weather conditions before setting out.
